Building Knowledges of Solidarity for Critical Social Policy

Friday 8th May 2026

11am-1pm GMT

Online via Zoom

Critical Social Policy is an academic journal published quarterly by Sage. Since its inception 40 years ago, CSP has been more than just a journal; it’s a political project that challenges dominant approaches to social policy and the state.

Join us for the launch of our new website - criticalsocialpolicy.com - to spotlight the grassroots actions that CSP champions through the Living Activism section of the journal, the Solidarity Fund and the Living Activism Podcast.

Following a presentation by the Community Knowledge Producers (CKP) on research by and for the community, we invite you to share your ideas and experiences of building knowledges of solidarity in our open discussion.

Programme:

  • Welcome and introduction

  • Overview of CSP history

  • Website overview

  • Presentation and open discussion

The Community Knowledge Producers project (part of SAWN) are women with lived experience of human rights violation. Tired of their expert situated knowledge silenced and colonised, CKP insist on by and for community theory and practice, principles for non-extractive practices and Black feminist intersectionality. The group works with CSP Editorial Collective member Dr. Suryia Nayak who has over 40 years experience of grassroot intersectional activism to end racialised misogyny including forced migration and trafficking.
